HOW TO PURCHASE:

  • This is a preorder, kits will be available for pick up on September 3rd and September 4th in the 'Batcave' (between Hamelin and Simard Halls)

  • In order to participate you must purchase this kit as well as fill out the 101er Registration Form emailed to you.

Some events are 18+ plus only, valid ID showing your name and date of birth must be presented when picking up your kit in order to have access to these events.

​This year’s theme is ‘ABBARTS’; a week filled with throwbacks, 70s Disco, and so much fun!!! With ‘ABBARTS’ we’ve chosen GOLD as our colour!

EVENT DESCRIPTIONS

SUNDAY

ARTS OPENING CEREMONIES – 4PM -5PM – BATCAVE
Help us kick off 101 Week! Meet your SAFA Executives, get a breakdown of the week, learn our cheers, meet your fellow 101ers, and get hyped for the Grand Opening! MANDITORY EVENT

UOSU OPENING CEREMONIES / BE PRESENT TO CONSENT – 5PM -7PM – TABARET LAWN
It’s time to show your Arts Pride! An event where all RSGs gather together to celebrate the beginning of 101 Week with cheer and details about the oncoming week. A presentation immediately following Opening Ceremonies on the importance of consent presented by Ottawa Public Health & Haven. MANDATORY EVENT

CHARADES CHAUDS / TIPSY TRIVIA – 7:30PM - 12:30PM – OFF CAMPUS (Meet in the Batcave)
It’s time to flex your trivia skills! Join us at a pub in Gatineau for drinks, games, and a good time! Win amtrivia game and you could get some awesome prizes! THIS IS AN 18+ EVENT

MAMA MIA-THON – 7:30PM -12:30PM – CAFÉ ALTERNATIF
Come to Café Alternatif for a movie marathon of ABBA proportions! Its time for popcorn, snacks, and chill vibes while we watch BOTH Mama Mia movies!

UOSU SCAVENGER HUNT – 7:30PM -9 PM– TABARET LAWN
Join UOSU for a Scavenger Hunt across campus!

 

 

MONDAY

UOSU FRANCO ICE BREAKERS – 9 :30AM -11AM – VIRTUAL
It’s time to meet and greet with the other francophones at uOttawa! This is the best networking event to find your new franco-friends!
UOSU CLUBS FAIR – 9AM -5PM 
Take a walk through the Grand Allée anytime during the day to meet some of the over 300 clubs at uOttawa!
BREAKFAST + WHAT IS SAFA? – 10-12 – 033 HAMELIN HALL
What even is SAFA? You’re with us for the next 4 years, we offer lots of amazing services, it’s the perfect chance for us to connect! Enjoy some Kettleman’s Bagels while you learn about SAFA and all the wonderful things we do for you! (Like events, scholarships, publication opportunities, and more!) You can also learn how to get involved with us, we’re kind of a big deal!
MA DAY – 12-4 – START IN 033 HAMELIN HALL
You’ve learned about SAFA, now what? This is your chance to do activities specific to YOUR PROGRAM! Join your respective Member Association for an afternoon of activities and orientation, as well as meet your classmates!
SAFA – 12PM - 4PM – BATCAVE
(For students in Linguistics, Lettres françaises, English as a Second Language, French as a Second Language, Geography, Environmental Studies, Indigenous Studies, Medieval Studies, Communications, Theatre, Visual Arts, World Languages and Cultures, Interdisciplinary Studies, and anyone else!)

Join SAFA for some Meet n Greet Icebreakers with people in your program, a bingo scavenger hunt contest, and pizza party! Prizes available for groups who can complete their bingo sheet!
Also get a chance to Wreck your 101er shirt and customize it to your own liking!
ADEMSA – 1PM - 4PM – MEET AT THE BATCAVE
Join the Music Students Association for a Day at Strathcona Park, complete with frisbee and picnic!
AEHSA – 12PM - 4PM  – CAFÉ ALTERNATIF
(For students in History, History and Political Science)
Join the History Students Association for high tea in Café Alt! As the biggest program in SAFA, you’re bound to meet a bunch of your classmates!
AETTSA/ELS SLT – 12PM - 4PM  – JULIEN RESOURCE CENTRE
(For students in Second Language Teaching, Translation)
Join the Translation Students Association and the Second Language Teaching Students Association for an afternoon of tours, resources, activities, and pizza! Check out the Resource Centre, the DLS Student Lounge, the AETTSA office, and more!

(For students in Art History)
Join the Art History Students Association for a meet and greet at their office in the Visual Arts building! Also get to meet students from all years of your program and get to ask them questions!

Join the Classics and Religions Students Association for meet and greets, scavenger hunts, and learn where to find your Department!

Join the Undergraduate English Students Association for icebreakers, a tour of the department of English, a ‘lit’ scavenger hunt, and a special prize at the end!

You’re in luck! The Undergraduate Philosophy Students Association is taking you out for lunch and games at The Loft, ByWard Market’s best board game café!
UOSU TAKE BACK THE NIGHT – 5PM - 6:30PM – UCU TERMINUS
Join us on Monday September 5th from 5:00pm-7:00pm virtually over Zoom or in-person at Terminus for Take Back The Night. As a community let's come together to take a stand against sexual violence and advocate for better support for survivors! THIS IS A MANDATORY EVENT
MA FAIR – 6:30PM -7:30PM – CAFÉ ALTERNATIF
You’ve learned about SAFA, met your Member Association, but what’s next? Time to meet the other Associations in SAFA! They run lots of great events and programs for you to participate in! This is also a great time to have snacks and meet students in other Arts programs!
UOSU DECOMPRESSION – 7PM - 9:30PM – TABARET LAWN
A time and space to relax with snacks and beverages immediately following Take Back the Night.
ARCADE NIGHT – 7:30PM -11:30PM – MEET IN FRONT OF SIMARD HALL
Bumper cars, rollercoasters, laser tag, escape rooms, and tons of arcade games, are you interested? Join us at Fun Haven for an evening of gaming! See how many tickets you can win and what prizes you can get!

BLOCK PARTY – 8PM - 2AM – MEET IN FRONT OF FAUTEUX HALL
Ready for a block party? Join us in Gatineau to party at not one, but TWO night clubs. This event is 18+ and has limited capacity. Make sure to come to bus loading as early as possible to guarantee your spot.
Busing provided by UOSU must be the only transportation taken to get to and from the event. THIS IS AN 18+ EVENT. THERE IS LIMITED CAPACITY SO ARRIVE AT FAUTEUX HALL AT 8PM!
ARTS N CRAFTS NIGHT – 7PM - 11PM – THE BATCAVE
It’s time to put the Arts in Faculty of Arts to work! Come to the Batcave for a night of painting, macaroni art, spray painting, collaging, and snacks!
UOSU BOARD GAME NIGHT – 7:30PM - 11PM – CRX 230
Want a relaxed night in? Join us for some board games, courtesy of the University of Ottawa Library!

 

WEDNESDAY

BEACH DAY – 12:30PM - 6PM – MEET IN THE BATCAVE
Bring your swimsuit, it’s time for a day at the beach! Enjoy swimming, sandcastles, waterguns, lunch, and more as we take over Britannia Beach!

DRAG SHOW – 6:30PM - 11PM – UCU TERRACE
SAFA and the Pride Centre are collaborating to bring you the annual 101 Week Drag Show! Watch as some of the best LGBT drag artists in Ottawa take over the stage, with a meet and greet after! This will be featuring Adrianna Exposé, Aimee Yoncé Shennel, Caligula, Devona Coe, Karamilk, Kiki Coe, Saltina Shaker, Sophia Sapphire, and Zak Zinya!

UO SHOW VIP EXPERIENCE – 8PM - 12PM – UNIVERSITY SQUARE
What’s better then attending Welcome Week’s concert? Attending Welcome Week’s concert with a VIP Ticket! Come with SAFA and you’ll get access to a special VIP Section AND Mocktails!

 

THURSDAY

FRANCO CONCERT WITH LES RATS D’SWOMPE – 4PM - 6:30PM – University Square

Join us for the Franco Fest pre-concert featuring Les Rats D’swompe, and opening numbers by uOttawa music students!
DECOMPRESSION & CHILL – 8PM - 11PM – CAFÉ ALT
Take some time to chill with us! Enjoy painting, snacks, and get to browse some Equity resources! You can also get a tarot reading!
