What is SAFA?
If you are a student in one of the many programs in the Faculty of Arts (with the exception Communications), then SAFA is YOU! According to our constitution, every student studying within the Faculty of Arts is officially a member of SAFA, and membership sure does have its privileges with services, resources, events and more!
SAFA represents the interests of undergraduate students of the Faculty of Arts within the UOSU, the Faculty, the University, the community, and the provincial and federal governments. The students’ association also works to foster a sense of community through social, academic, and cultural events, while at the same time offering a variety of services to its members.
We are a non profit corporation
We include over 4000 members
We are one of the largest student associations at uOttawa
We are run by an executive committee
They, in turn, by a board made up of our member association representatives

Hello! I'm Rachel Burke and I'm VP Internal for SAFA. I am in my fourth year studying for an Honours BA in History. VP Comms - Franco
Fiona Broughton, she/her
Hello SAFA! I'm a third year student majoring in Linguistics, and I have the pleasure of being your VP Finance this year. I am from Toronto, and moved to Ottawa for opportunities in politics, but soon learned that Linguistics is where my heart truly lies. Always feel free to reach out with any questions about SAFA, our finances, or your linguistics homework. (Though I cannot help you with phonology, you will have to help me.)
VP Comms - Anglo
Tegwyn Skye Curtis, she/her
Hi SAFA! I'm a fifth year History and Poli Sci student interested in Canadian and Celtic histories. I am in love with photography, art, design, and writing. I'm so excited to be combining all those things as VP Communications (Anglo). I'm originally from Northern Alberta, but lived on Vancouver Island in High School and consider that home. Ottawa was a whole new adventure, but I'm back doing school and SAFA remotely by moving into my childhood home. I'm happy to answer any uni and SAFA questions, or talk about accessibility with you!

101 Week Coordinator

Lydia Talajic (she/her)
I am ecstatic to be returning as SAFA’s 101 Week Coordinator for fall 2021. I am a theatre grad, and currently working as an arts administrator, and I'm the General Manager of the Youth Infringement Festival. Pre-COVID, I worked as an independent theatre artist, and travelled from Winnipeg to Quebec City with touring shows. My work focuses on providing young artists with a safe space to play, be vulnerable, and be heard. When I'm not working on professional projects, you can fine me playing with my two cats or knitting.
